With over 20 years of experience in product development and process improvement, and with clients ranging from major corporations to small firms throughout the United States, Mike is now helping clients harness new opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Mike’s corporate experience has included many well-known companies in highly competitive markets. He began consulting with small manufacturers who wanted to make improvements, but lacked the experience to successfully bring powerful new techniques into their operations.
In 1999, Mike established a new consulting enterprise named Simple Solutions that is focused on the specific needs of small and mid-sized companies of all types. Mike works with clients that need to simplify operations, deploy new techniques and streamline their processes.
Clients benefit from improved teamwork, agile processes and flexible systems. Company executives continue to applaud the customer-focused solutions that are developed and supported by their employees.
Mike trains, coaches and facilitates cross-functional teams chartered with accelerating office, processing and production tasks, reducing systemic wastes, increasing customer confidence and simplifying internal company processes.
Team members enjoy Mike’s hands-on approach to projects that span from the front offices, throughout the process and all the way to the customer’s door.
Successful projects and training programs often include a variety of customized elements including: introductory and kickoff sessions, toolbox workshops, on-site team projects, project management systems, and executive overviews.

Let Our Clients Speak ...
"From that first view of Lean and 5S, you showed us a bunch of things that we can see and understand and start to work on using immediately."
Drew Greenblatt, President & Owner
Marlin Wire
“I was excited by yesterday's Lean & Green training. I made good connections in our community, plus I think our Operations Director got good out of it too. He and I have already discussed a 5S event in his Operations Center.
I look forward to working with you some more.”
Cathy Fleming, Director of Business Development
Goodwill Industries of Chesapeake
“Had a wonderful time at the (Lean) presentation, and as always I enjoying working with you and learning from you. Talk to you soon.”
Gordon Lord, Operations Manager
Kirk-Habicht
“We continue to be happy and even surprised with the results we have received from implementing even the low-hanging fruit of lean. With Lean we are looking at our best production year in our 21 year history. Other benefits such as more floor space, greater team atmosphere, less lost or misplaced items, thru-put time cut at least 50%, greater control of and more accurate scheduling. Thank you for helping us to accomplish this.”
Greg Petersheim, Production Manager
Paradise Custom Kitchens
“You really helped us out today helping us design Cell 4. Thanks a lot.”
George Rousch, Manufacturing Manager
Northway Industries
“It’s interesting that many of the problems that we identified while making “widgets” during the (Kanban Course) simulation are the same problems that we encounter while “rolling metal” in our real factory. This seems to support the claim that these improvement tools apply to all manufacturing and service industries. Closer examination of the list reveals that we can control each of the problems identified. Many thanks for a job well done!”
Jim Eichelberger, Senior Project Manager
Hamilton Precision Metals
“This was really a great (5S) Class. I'm very happy to see so many people participating and coming up with ideas. You pulled in the participants and really got them moving toward seeing "opportunities for 5S Techniques" in their work areas. We'll get started on these ideas right away, and this whole program has been really great. I'm excited to see how far we can get before our busy season kicks in again! Thanks again for developing this class.”
Saideh Pashai, Oven Segment Manager
Vulcan-Hart Baltimore
"We have worked with Mike Rothmeier and Simple Solutions throughout our entire Lean Transformation process. The work done by Mike has been professional and with a high level of knowledge. We strongly recommend Simple Solutions Consulting to other companies seeking to improve their ‘bottom-line’ through the use of Lean Manufacturing.
“Prior to going lean, Northway Industries Inc. ran into numerous manufacturing bottlenecks that no longer remain. Through Mike’s efforts, Northway has reduced its costs, improved its quality, and increased its productivity and information sharing.”
Don O'Hora, President & COO
Northway Industries, Inc."
"The numbers show an annual savings of $138,000. Think of it…a 44% productivity improvement in a few weeks time without any capital investment. Thanks--you made us look like heroes again."
Kelly Avery, Senior Manufacturing Engineer,
3M Dental Products
“I just had lunch at the local pizza shop and saw the owner and CFO of (a past client of yours). They said that you really made a big improvement in their company and couldn't get done raving about you. They said their guys learned from you about QCO and have taken it on themselves to implement it further.”
Bert Elsner II, Vice President
Elsner Engineering Works
"I never would have believed that you could map our whole process in one week. You really know what you're doing, and you have the whole place talking about the improvements we're going to make. I hope you can get down to (other facilities) and help them too."
John Rosenberg, President
TRW Milliwave Products
“Mike Rothmeier presents 5S from the viewpoint of the customer. It becomes apparent that the process is all about enhancing the value you bring to the customer by utilizing the principles of 5S. I certainly learned that this process needs an outside champion & expert to facilitate the introduction...good work!
“The team learned that by using 5S, defects will be reduced, productivity is enhanced, and workers gain a sense of control of their workspace and on their daily activities. This leads to a better product at a lower cost.
“I was thrilled to see how 5S works first hand. Hopefully, (by participating on this latest team) I made a contribution. Win/win…no doubt!”
